TAKE SAMPLES – BUT DO IT RIGHT!

Quality control and regular inspection of production processes, raw materials, and finished products are essential practices across all industries. These procedures ensure that the products released to the market meet strict quality and safety standards. A key component of this process is sampling, which represents the first and one of the most critical steps in the entire quality control chain.

This presentation will highlight why careful and consistent sampling is essential for obtaining reliable analytical results and maintaining high product quality. It will address common challenges encountered during sampling and present practical approaches to optimizing sampling procedures. Participants will gain useful insights into how improved sampling workflows can enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and support more reliable quality assurance in everyday laboratory and industrial environments.

Mr. Klaus Kirchfeld, Area Sales Manager, DWK

THE HISTORY OF LABORATORY GLASS AND THE ADVANTAGES OF DURAN® BOROSILICATE GLASS

This presentation will explore the fascinating history of laboratory glass and the development of high-quality borosilicate glassware. Special focus will be given to the heritage and innovations of DURAN laboratory glass, produced by DWK Life Sciences, and its role in advancing safety and reliability in scientific laboratories. The lecture will address different topics such as material composition, manufacturing quality, thermal and chemical resistance, and practical benefits that contribute to improved laboratory safety and performance.

Ms. Anamarija Idžojtić, Sales Manager, EFCON LINE

MOBILE MODULAR LABORATORY BENCH WITH TRANSFORMABLE CONFIGURATION AND SHOWING OF A PHARMACEUTICAL STORAGE UNIT

This presentation introduces a modular laboratory workstation with integrated utility connections. The system enables rapid disassembly of the central bench and its reconfiguration into two functional units: a semi-central bench designed for wall placement and an independent laboratory workbench. The presentation also includes an overview of different types of laboratory worktops and technical solutions for utility integration. During the presentation, visitors will also see a modern pharmaceutical storage unit with various storage systems.

Mr.Pietro Oliverio, Sales Area Manager, FASTER

EN 12469:2025 – KEY CHANGES AND THEIR IMPACT ON BIOSAFETY CABINETS

Lecture will present a focused overview of the key changes introduced in EN 12469:2025, highlighting the main technical and performance differences compared to EN 12469:2000.

The session is particularly relevant for end users of microbiological safety cabinets (Class I, II, and III biosafety cabinets) used in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical, research, and hospital laboratories. It will clarify how the 2025 revision impacts product design, type testing, re-certification, and market compliance strategies across Europe and beyond.

Ms. Anna-Maria Ruoff, Area Sales Manager, KERN & SOHN

FROM WEIGHING STATION TO SMART LABORATORY PROCESS – PRACTICAL AUTOMATION WITH KERN ABP/ABP-A AND PDT/PDS

Laboratory automation does not begin with complex robotic systems. Significant improvements in process reliability, reproducibility, and data integrity can already be achieved directly at the weighing station through intelligent features and structured workflows.

This presentation demonstrates, using practical examples, how modern analytical and precision balances such as the KERN ABP-A and the PDS series can support the step-by-step automation of laboratory processes. The focus is automated internal adjustment, method-guided weighing procedures, standardized data output, and GLP-compliant documentation.

Based on real-world use cases, participants will learn how to reduce sources of error, streamline routine tasks, and support regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP and FDA 21 CFR Part 11) without the need for large-scale investments.

The objective is to provide laboratory managers and quality professionals with practical impulses on how to make existing processes smarter, safer and more sustainable.

Mr. Roman Kovacik, Channel sales manager CE, Baltics and Balkan, MEMMERT

NEXT-GENERATION PELTIER CLIMATE CONTROL FOR STABILITY TESTING: PRECISION, RELIABILITY, AND SUSTAINABILITY

This lecture will explore how next-generation Peltier-based climate control technology not only advances precision and reliability in stability testing, but also significantly reduces operational costs and environmental impact—setting a new standard for sustainable laboratory infrastructure. Attendees will gain insight into how continuous, refrigerant-free operation enhances long-term performance stability while minimizing maintenance demands and total cost of ownership.

Mr. Luca Fumagalli, Regional Sales Manager Europe, VELP SCIENTIFICA

FROM KJELDAHL TO DUMAS: EVOLUTION OF NITROGEN DETERMINATION IN FOOD AND ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS

Nitrogen analysis is a cornerstone of quality control and nutritional labeling across the food, agricultural, and environmental sectors. Historically, the Kjeldahl method has been the global "gold standard" since 1883. However, the rise of the Dumas method (automated combustion) has sparked a significant debate regarding efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability.

LEADING THE WAY IN CELL CULTURE CONTAMINATION PREVENTION

Contamination remains one of the most persistent and costly challenges in cell culture laboratories worldwide. From subtle experimental variability to complete culture loss, its impact is significant in research and even more critical in GMP environments, where it can directly affect product quality, timelines, and ultimately patient outcomes in advanced therapies such as cell and gene therapy.

In cleanrooms and controlled cell culture environments, both microbial contamination and non-viable particulates pose serious risks to cell-based products. As a result, scientists, process engineers, and facility teams must go beyond basic aseptic technique and implement robust, well-structured contamination prevention strategies. Importantly, the choice and design of laboratory equipment play a critical and often underestimated role in determining overall contamination risk and enabling effective control.

This session will provide practical, experience-driven insights into how to minimise contamination risks by combining the right equipment, smart design considerations, and disciplined operational practices.

Mr. Igor Almeida Ainetdinova, Area Sales Manager, RAYPA

COMMON AUTOCLAVE ERRORS AND HOW TO AVOID THEM

Autoclaves are essential for ensuring effective sterilization, yet common procedural mistakes can compromise their performance and pose significant risks. This presentation explores the most frequent errors in autoclave use, including improper loading, inadequate maintenance, and incorrect cycle selection. Attendees will gain practical insights and clear guidelines to help prevent these issues, improve sterilization outcomes, and ensure compliance with best practices and safety standards.

KERN BOOTH WORKSHOP: From Measurement to Documentation – A Simple Digital Workflow with PDT and OIV 355

This live session demonstrates how everyday laboratory and inspection processes can be digitalized in a simple and practical way.

In a mini workflow, a sample is weighed on a PDT precision balance, and the result is automatically transferred to a PC via Windows Direct – including timestamp and measurement value, without any manual typing.
The workflow is complemented by visual inspection using the OIV 355 video microscope, enabling objective evaluation and digital documentation directly on screen.
The presentation highlights how automated data transfer and digital imaging improve traceability, reduce transcription errors, and support standardized quality processes – without complex IT systems.
